ABOUT ME
I grew up in Dundee, Scotland and now live in Renfrewshire.
I have worked in the field of disability and inclusion for over 20 years, initially in supported employment then providing advocacy for people with disabilities and mental health issues, specialising in support for children and young people.

It was through my advocacy work that I met several deaf clients and was prompted to start learning British Sign Language in 2006.

After a long, often halting, frequently diverted journey, I embarked on interpreter training in 2018 and have since dedicated myself to pursuing this as a career.

My educational background includes an initial undergraduate degree in Politics from the University of Glasgow, then a Masters in Human Rights from the University of London. My BSL/English Interpreting training was completed in 2023 through the University of Central Lancashire.

Throughout my working life I have undertaken further training in mental health, autism and sensory impairments and continue to seek out training and development opportunities to refresh my knowledge or gain new skills and insights.
